It's better to know something you don't know
To decode your VIN number is as important as having oil in your engine. You can easily find all the right information and parts for your motorcycle.
When you go and buy something to fit your Harley and get home after three weeks of waiting just to find out it's the wrong part. By supplying your VIN number to the dealer or part supplier, you stop or minimize the possibility of getting the wrong parts for your bike. It's a bit different with "custom" motorcycles. Most parts are made one off's or made to fit for custom bikes. You don't have that with Harley-Davidson genuine custom accessories and performance parts.
